Ongoing Monitoring

The Monitoring functionality in sanctions.io allows organizations to continuously screen individuals and entities against global Sanctions, PEP (Politically Exposed Persons), and additional Watchlists. It supports automated ongoing monitoring and alerting to help compliance teams meet regulatory obligations.

All functionality is accessible via:

  • The Monitoring Portal (web-based user interface)

  • The Monitoring API (for integration into internal systems)

Features

1. Add a Monitoring Entry

Submit an individual or entity for ongoing monitoring.

How to Use:

  • Use the “Add Entry” form in the portal, the batch upload functionality, or

  • Send data via the API

Recommended fields include:

  • Name (Name of a person or entity)

  • DOB

  • Country (ISO2)

  • Entity type (individual or entity)

  • Data sources (e.g., SDN, UN, EU)

  • Minimum match score (recommended 0.88)

2. View All Monitoring Entries

See all currently monitored individuals and companies associated with your account. Accessible from the Monitoring Portal dashboard or via the API.

3. Retrieve Match Details

View full screening results, including:

  • Confidence score

  • Source list (e.g., OFAC SDN, UN List)

  • Relevant metadata (aliases, birthdates, etc.)

Access via the portal entry detail view or the API.

4. Update Result

Manually label a match as either:

  • False Positive – match is irrelevant and should not trigger future alerts.

  • Real Positive – match is verified and potentially requires escalation.

Users can also add internal comments to document their decision.

Purpose:

  • Reduce recurring false positives.

  • Document compliance actions.

  • Improve alert management and auditability.

Available in the portal via the result detail page, or through the API using the “Update Result” endpoint.

5. Delete Monitoring Entry

Remove an entry when monitoring is no longer required.

When to Use Monitoring

Monitoring should be used when:

  • Ongoing due diligence is required (e.g., for customers, vendors, partners).

  • Regulatory obligations mandate periodic sanctions or PEP re-screening.

  • An auditable compliance process is needed.

Notifications and Frequency

Monitored entries are rescreened automatically at regular intervals.
If a new match occurs:

  • Alerts are visible in the portal.

  • Alerts can be retrieved via API.

  • Match data includes all relevant metadata and sources.
